Within one year, my pup started having seizures, followed by a diagnosis of several other problems.  The vet bills have been extensive and expensive.

Purebred dogs and cats are popular and people love them, but they can harbor hereditary and genetic illnesses. You probably know someone with a Labrador Retriever.  They are prone to getting hip dysplasia.  Poodles seem to get progressive retinal atrophy.

As you can imagine, surgery and treatment for these genetic conditions can be very expensive and only a few insurance plans cover them.  Moreover, the costs aren’t fixed.  Some areas of the country are much more expensive than others.

When doing your pet insurance comparison, be sure the plan you choose covers your pet.
